Welcome to the INPP (Scotland) website

At INPP (Scotland) we assess and offer intervention for children, adolescents and adults who have been identified as having a ‘Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD),’ ‘Emotional or Behavioural Disorder (EBD),’ or who are under-achieving despite good levels of ability and intelligence.

Our centre, formerly based at South Queensferry, is located in the regenerated and quaint town of Bo’ness.  The centre was founded in 1999 by Sheila Dobie OBE.  Sheila has many years of experience in working with individuals with special needs and was formerly of University of Edinburgh prior to founding INPP (Scotland) Ltd.

The work undertaken at our centre originated in 1975 through the pioneering research of Peter Blythe PhD in Chester.  Dr Blythe’s work focused on a search for a physical basis for learning difficulties and methods were developed for assessing and remediating these physical dysfunctions.  Dr Blythe was a senior lecturer in Applied Psychology (Education) at the College of Education in Lancashire and established ‘The Institute for Neuro-Physiological Psychology’ to investigate the links between physical development and problems with reading, writing, spelling, coordination, behaviour and emotional functioning in both children and adults.

Sally Goddard-Blythe MSc., FRSA joined ‘The Institute for Neuro-Physiological Psychology’ in 1988 and has made major contributions to the work being done throughout the world. Sally Goddard-Blythe is the current Director of The Institute for Neuro-Physiological Psychology and the International Director of The International School for Neuro-Developmental Training and Research. www.inpp.org.uk
