Interventions

INPP logo

Known as ‘The INPP Method,’ this intervention addresses the retention of primitive reflexes and absence of postural reflexes.  It originates from Dr. Peter Blythe’s pioneering research in 1975.  INPP Ltd, The Institute for Neuro-Physiological Psychology, 1 Stanley Street, Chester, CH1 2LR is the parent organisation of the INPP Method.  This particular intervention involves physical exercises that are developmental and progressive and take 5 – 10 minutes to perform daily at home.

Bilateral Integration logo

Bilateral Integration was devised by Mrs. Sheila Dobie OBE to help children and adolescents with specific learning and behavioural problems, as well as those individuals who were underachieving.  This is a unique intervention programme that is designed to develop coordination and fine motor control, integrate the sensory systems and in essence stimulate the essential links between moving and thinking that allow us all to learn and interact with the world around us.  It requires performing physical exercises for 5 – 10 minutes daily at home.

‘Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulation (Johansen IAS)’ was developed by Dr. Kjeld Johansen, a Danish teacher and psychologist.  This listening programme has been used to improve and enhance auditory processing abilities.  These abilities are required in order to access literacy development, speech and language processing (receptive and expressive), attention and concentration, organisation of verbal information and memory.  The ‘Johansen IAS’ involves listening to individually tailored music through headphones for 10 minutes each day at home.
